Ticket to Ride

On Monday we played the board game Ticket to Ride at Rogers and Nelda's. Ticket to Ride is a railway-themed German-style board game. This is another game the our friend Patrick introduced to us. We played the Europe version which I like the best because of the map. I lived in France for 6 month when I was in third grade. So seeing a map with the cities spelled in their native language is really neat. In case anyone wondered Roger was the winner beating me by just one point.

settlers of catan

Sunday Danielle and I were invited over to play Settlers of Catan at Jim and Liz's. This is an amazing game of strategy involving resources, building and trading. A great game of economics! Danielle did very well for her first time. I can't wait to play again with friends in from the Cedarville area.

Awana Quizzing & Belated Valentines Party

On Saturday February 24th. Cornerstone Baptist Church had it's first Awana Quizzing. We ended up having only 2 kids participate. They did fantastic job for each being on their own team. I think we where able to create excitement within the church for next year, hopefully with more kids participating.

We finished the day with a Sunday School belated Valentines party. We had food from Sonny's BBQ, which for the money is an excellent source of food for a large group. We had a lot of fun.

Amazing Grace Movie

Danielle and I saw The Amazing Grace movie. This is the first movie we saw on opening night. The theater was nearly packed. There were a lot of Asbury students there since Asbury College does have a significant involvement with the move. I was not disappointed at all with the movie. It captured perfectly to story of William Wilberforce's campaign to end the slave trade in the United Kingdom. If you have not already seen this movie it is worth seeing. Please support these kinds of movies the feature Christians and Christan morals.

House Inspection Disaster

This weekend did not go as planned. We drove 3 hours north to Xenia,Oh to be present for the house inspection we wanted to buy. The inspector found a whole slew of problems and not just minor problems but 3 pages worth of major problems including foundation, electrical, roofing, deck, insulation, and drywall. A search on the Internet reveled that the house had not had it's final building inspection yet. There were enough (unfixable) problems that we had to cancel the contract. So the bad was is we are not buying a house now, and we spend $300 on the inspection. The good news we don't own a crappy house that we could not live in, we got to see Ben and Ann's new baby boy Caleb, and we found clean place to rent. Our lease is through the end of July so that should give us enough time to sell our house and find a new one.
