Not voting

Tomorrow, us Xenia folks have to opportunity to vote on a massive expensive new school system. The good news is that the state of Ohio is going to match almost dollar for dollar what Xenia will raise in increased property taxes. This just drives me crazy, personally, I don't think we need to spend 85 million dollars on schools. True some of our schools are falling apart and need replaced, but why do we need the Cadillac version? I'm not trilled about paying $365 a year for 28 years in extra property tax. But I would like to see nicer schools, but I don't think it's fair to the families who home school or families who pay to sent their kids to private school. With increased property taxes comes the possibility that families could not afford the higher taxes. With all this turmoil in my mind, I think that I am not going to vote. I'm going to be unhappy either way, that is unless this vote fails and we vote yes for far less extravagant new schools in yet another election later this year.

Who is the Liberal Now?

Are you upside down on your home mortgage? Don't worry John McCain and the government will take care of you. Here is what McCain said last night in the debate:

You know that home values of retirees continues to decline and people are no longer able to afford their mortgage payments. As president of the United States, Alan, I would order the secretary of the treasury to immediately buy up the bad home loan mortgages in America and renegotiate at the new value of those homes -- at the diminished value of those homes and let people be able to make those -- be able to make those payments and stay in their homes.

Is it expensive? Yes. But we all know, my friends, until we stabilize home values in America, we're never going to start turning around and creating jobs and fixing our economy. And we've got to give some trust and confidence back to America.

This is non-sense and completely crazy. Maybe I should fall behind on my mortgage so the government will take care of me. Never mind the fact that the Fed will have the print the money out of thin air to pay for this. Hold on the your hats, we are going to be in for a wild economic ride as long as the government keeps interfering. Between this proposal and Bomb Bomb, Bomb Iran, there is no way I can vote for McCain. (or Obama.) I honestly, do not know which will do more harm to our county. I encourage you to vote 3rd party. I'll have more on this in a later post.

NO $700 Billion Bailout

I digress into politics.... I'll refrain from ranting [too much] about how the United States in sliding into socialism... or the upcoming inflation nightmare. (Oil up $16 today)

I call my congressman's [office] for the first time in my life today. I called to voice my strong opposition over than $700 Billion Bank Bailout. It was quick took less than 5 minutes. The lady took my name and address and she would pass my concern on to the congressman.

Please consider calling your congress person and your 2 two senators.

Phone numbers found here: http://www.congress.org/c...

Tell them ...

1. You will not pay for Wall Street's mistakes.

2. You will not vote for anyone who dares suggest you should pay for Wall Street's mistakes.

Hate Tip to Brian for pointing me to this article about how we become the United States of France.

What is going on with the Economy?

It looks very much like we are going to see 70's style stagflation soon and perhaps even worse. What is exceedingly frustrating is that we have not been able to learn from our past mistakes.
For the sake a brevity here is what is going on in America. We as a county and individuals are borrowed way beyond what is prudent and what we can repay. Our Federal Reserve refuses to correctly address the problem and we are heading into a full scale inflationary period with high unemployment. What we must understand is that the because of low interest rates the Fed sets, more people borrowed money. Every time we borrow money form the bank, the bank gets to create most of that borrowed money out of thin air. The more money that gets created out of thin air the more price rise. I'm sure you all feel this what trying to budget grocery and gas money. What is really happening is that our dollar is becoming worth less and less. The price of oil has not increased compared to gold. What the Fed does when it lowers interest rates is the *anti*-Robin Hood. That is steeling money from the poor and middle class through inflation to give money through low interest loans to Wall Street. Seniors with CD's are going to see their interest rates drop and at the same time they see their medical bills skyrocket. The middle class is going to see the yearly raises grow less than the cost of living. We are approaching a crisis situation in America, they few of us understand. Ron Paul addressed the Fed today. Listen to what he has to say. What we must realize is that government cannot outsmart to market, we will have to pay for our debts.

Is Freedom of light bulb too much to ask in America?

It looks like our beloved congress and president are going to sign the Energy Bill. A little-noticed provision of the energy bill is going to phase out the traditional light bulbs and replace it with an energy efficient bulb. Now I am all in favor of efficient light bulbs. I bought 30 compact florescent for our new home. According to the box I'll save nearly $1350 over seven years. But why is this a matter for Congress? I have a light bulb in the attic that is a traditional 60w bulb. It will be lucky to be on 3 hours a year. Why should I spend extra money for a efficient bulb in my attic. Some light fixtures don't have room for the efficient light bulbs and some people cannot stand the light that comes from florescent bulbs. Their might even be medical reasons to avoid florescent light. The law has terrible unintended consequences. I want the right to pick what light bulbs I use in my house. Why are we letting our country to be over run by bureaucrats? One more reason the vote for Ron Paul.

Ultimate Frisbee

Today I played on the Cedarville Computer Services Ultimate Frisbee team. Our team only had 7 players so I had to play the whole game. Man I'm out of shape. I guess bike ridding does not translate being in running shape. Oh well, We had a good time and only lost 15-10. Danielle and Lily even came to cheer us on.

In Economic News. The fed thought it was a good idea to devalue the dollar once again through cutting interest rates. The Canadian dollar today now will by 1 US dollar. The good news is that I'm sure I have about $4 Canadian leftover from our honeymoon that I bought for something like $3.25 back then. Silver is one to $13.33 or so, so my investment in 6 silver dollar coins is starting to pay off. So the moral of the story is: too many people with bad loans == bad for the economy therefore, lets lower the interest rate to encourage more people to borrow more $$$ so we can raise the rates again so we have more bad loans so we can lower the rates..... hmmm Good thing I am not the head of the Fed, I would just be lazy and set the rate at 6% and never change it, or even better yet let people buy and sell things with gold or silver and not have to do anything. OK end of Economic rant and time for bed. Good night moon.

Democrats

Ok, so I watched part of CNN's Youtube Democratic presidential debate last night on my computer. I guess there are some things I just don't understand. Why if you are opposed to the war in Iraq would you be in favor of a war in Sudan? To me this is like hmm war in Iraq (The evil Republican's war) not going so well... I know let's move the troops to Sudan and see if that war (The benevolent Democrats "peacekeeping") goes any better. I guess it is about the children in Sundan but their are children in Iraq as well. I personally don't follow to logic, but perhaps someone could explain it. I'm open to hearing and understanding new ideas. On a related side note I just checked out the 9/11 Commission report today from the library and I'll report back on what I think about the book.

Our country and World is in much need of prayer. We also must remember that God is in control.
